About the role

The position is responsible for supporting and supervising technicians, carrying out specialised design, installation, configuration and integration of telecommunications infrastructure as well as monitoring and carrying out troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of infrastructure.

Duties include:

  • Design, planning, hauling, installation and supervision of tap down telecommunications infrastructure on HFC, FTTX, FTTN and FTTC platforms;
  • Configuring, integrating and commissioning new telecommunications infrastructure to existing networks including assisting users to integrate home networks and devices (NTD);
  • Carry out telecommunication testing up to full network and analyse test results including write test specifications and instructions, develop tests and evaluation plans and procedures. Conduct tests based on approved procedures;
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing telecommunications infrastructure assist in locating, clearing and repairing conduit blockage
  • Collect and analyse troubleshooting and repair logs to identify problematic issues on the level of application as well as develop protocols to minimise future events;
  • Liaising with delivery partners and clients to carry out installation and repair work;
  • Maintain job logs for work carried out including details of location, status, inventory and equipment and information sharing with delivery partners;
  • Training and supervision of cable technicians and installers including carrying out quality assurance;
  • Manage customer complaints and resolve disputes including carrying out further staff training where required; and
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety laws and regulations.


  • Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology
  • ACMA Open Cable Registration
  • Previous NBN/telecommunications technical experience
  • Copper, HFC and Optical Fiber Accreditation


  • Advanced Diploma of Telecommunication Network Engineering will be highly regarded


  • Base salary of $65,000 plus super

The successful candidate must be able to work in a team and is a self-starter able to work unsupervised with minimal direction. Must be willing to travel.
