About the business

Amiga Engineering Pty Ltd is a growing SME, innovative manufacturing company. The only company of it's kind providing CNC Machinig, Metal 3d printing, polymer 3d printing, 3D scanning, 3d equipment sales, industrial gearboxes and fabrication in one location.

THE JOB

Amiga is seeking someone to join the team as a general all-rounder for our workshop. Machine spare parts, help existing staff in the industrial gearbox area, help maintain existing CNC and manual machines. (If welding and fabrication experience, that is a bonus)

  • Machining of parts and components
  • Help in the industrial gearbox section with disassembly and inspection of industrial gearboxes
  • Help in assembly of industrial gearboxes and testing.
  • Expediting customer orders for breakdown situations
  • Work with other facility teams (Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering) to ensure work flow is efficient
  • Build / Assemble by following specifications and bill of material
  • Install moving parts such as shafts, bearings, and work them to test free movement.
  • Using both manual and CNC machines to manufacture spare parts for the Australian Made industrial gearboxes

SKILLS & EXPERIENCENote - this is NOT an apprentice role

  • Must be a Qualified Fitter & Turner (Completed fitter & turner apprenticeship)
  • Minimum of manual machining capabilities - (CNC machining capabilities is preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Industrial Maintenance experience is beneficial to your role
  • Experience in assembling and disassembling Industrial Gearboxes
  • Mechanically minded
  • Use of hand held power tool experience
  • An understanding of bearings – packing bearings, tapered roller bearings and preloads of bearings by use of shims, spacers and dial indicators
  • Experience in pressing bearings and gears on and off shafts with an understanding of tolerances
  • Computer and technology savvy
  • Understanding of Technical and assembly / fitment drawings
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to interact with other team members and machinists in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment with a passion to learn new things
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • CAD experience and abilities is a bonus
  • Physically fit and eager to learn more/upskill yourself
  • A positive and can-do attitude is a must

EXTRA INFO FOR YOUR ROLE

  • This is a full-time permanent role, starting ASAP
  • Monday to Friday, some Saturday work depending on work load. General hours are 7am -3:30pm + opportunity for paid overtime (dependent on work load)
