Position: Wall and floor tiler
Salary: $57,500 plus super
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time
Location: Melbourne, VIC
Experience required: Minimum 2 years skilled experience

State Master Renderers is a customer focused organization and with growth driven by market demands for efficient complete project delivery, we are seeking a qualified and experienced wall and floor tiler to become a permanent member for our team.
Role:
Laying ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass tiles on external and internal walls and floors for protective and decorative finishes for our customers.
Suitable candidate is expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
- Read plans and specifications and be able to set out area to be tiled.
- Measuring, marking surfaces for laying out work and examining plans.
- Preparing wall and floor surfaces, removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning surfaces.
- Apply levelling screed.
- Spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles, and setting tiles in position.
- Mix and apply sand and cement grout.
- Using tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fittings and pipes and, also ensuring tiles are correctly aligned and spaced.
- Grouting tiles, and cleaning and removing excess grout.
- Applying waterproofing systems.
- Be able to lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement, or similar composition, as may be required for specific projects.
- Be able to lay coloured tiles in patterns to create mosaics, as may be required for specific projects.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Qualification of Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling. Additional higher relevant trade qualifications will be a plus
- Minimum 2 years of skilled work experience
- Fluent English and strong client communication skills
- Understanding drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
- Ordering and selecting materials, and preparing layouts
- Be able to work unsupervised with a keen eye to detail and meeting deadlines
- Strong ability to lead and direct other tradespersons
- Strong communications skills, work well in a team environment & thrive under pressure
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work autonomously on a variety of tasks and projects, effectively managing competing timelines whilst staying flexible enough to deal with urgent situations as required
- Flexible work hours essential
