Hume City Council's Parks Department has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled Arborist who is keen to be involved in management of over 200,000 trees as part of Hume's Urban Forest.

The role is within our tree management unit and will be actively involved in providing strong leadership. You will be responsible for the operational supervision to tree crews, ensuring a high quality of tree pruning and removal works. You will assist in the administration of Council's Urban Forest by providing technical input tree maintenance programming, tree maintenance works supervision and quality assurance.

This role will also assist in ensuring tree data collection, program development and quality tree management practices are maintained, so as Council meets its legislative obligations and policy and strategy outcomes.

Key Skills

  • Diploma in Arboriculture or Certificate III Arboriculture with a minimum of 3 years relevant tree experience and are progressing toward a Diploma in Arboriculture within 3 years.
  • Experience and training in the supervision & management of contractors and/or in-house crews.
  • Computer skills particularly in relation to GIS & Tree Inventory Databases and proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of Arboricultural and Horticultural theory, practice and relevant standards.
