Full Job Description
Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Research Administration Assistant to join our Palliative Care Service. This comprehensive specialist Palliative Care Services at the ONJ Centre includes a 24-bed specialist inpatient Palliative Care Unit, a Palliative Care Consultancy service to the acute inpatients of the Austin Hospital, an Outpatient Clinic, Palliative Care Clinical Trials, and liaison with Community Palliative Care Services for the support of patients at home.

The key objective of the Palliative Care Research Administration Assistant position is to provide administrative support to the Palliative Care Clinical Trials team, to ensure optimal clinical trial management. This includes accurate and timely data collection and entry, ensuring the on-going integrity and completeness of data, ensuring patient consent is obtained as per ICH-GCP guidelines and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate patient appointments, trial visits and specimen collection as per protocol.

This fixed term 12 month part-time position is required on Thursdays, and every second Friday.

Essential knowledge and skills include:
Experience with managing online databases, including entering data and simple data analysis
Experience in data extraction from public hospital medical files
Proficiency and demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office 365, especially Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated capacity to work in partnership with other healthcare team memebers
Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and contribute to the research team
An appreciation that each task, regardless of how mundane, contributes to the overall smooth running of the team
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks without supervision

Knowledge of medical terminology; training can be provided
Knowledge of ICH/GCP and the clincial trials environment; training can be provided
Clinical trial experience
Experience working within a cancer service
