The Opportunity

Berry Street aims to provide a high quality out of home care service that is responsive to the specific needs of children and young people who are at risk or who have experienced the trauma of family violence, child abuse and neglect. We aim to provide high quality Foster Carers who will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people in care.

The Home Based Care team provides Foster Care services in the Northern region of metropolitan Victoria. The program ensures placements are well resourced ensuring carer recruitment, support, development and supervision is to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

The Team Leader – Foster Carer Recruitment, Assessment & Training will be responsible for positively leading, driving, implementing and delivering a comprehensive recruitment strategy with the aim of having a sufficient pool of trained and accredited Foster Carers to meet the needs of children requiring out of home care.

The Team Leader's Other Duties Will Include
  • Facilitating the Foster Carer recruitment, assessment, training and development.
  • Maintaining the Carer data base and ensuring compliance against the Home Based Care Program requirements (DFFH).
  • Developing and delivering the Shared Lives Victoria program as well as the training and assessment.
  • Leading and supporting a small team of Case Managers.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the theoretical frameworks of out of home care, in particular attachment, grief and loss, and trauma.
  • Sophisticated understanding of the welfare sector and the complexities involved in providing services.
  • Strong leadership qualities, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in an unstructured environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a passion to make a positive contribution to young people and their families.
