Note Printing Australia (NPA) has over 100 years’ experience manufacturing high security bank notes and passports for both the Australian and international markets. Our Maintenance department is on the hunt for a energised and motivated Mechanic to join the team. The role runs on a weekly rotational shift from day shift to afternoon.

The key responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:

  • Attend to customer requests to repair breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for allocated work with regard to quality, bill of materials, requisitions, and completions (date/time).
  • Maintain repair and maintenance records using online maintenance management systems
  • Be a key player in the improvement, maintenance and troubleshooting to machines to ensure KPI’s are met across the department and business
  • Responsible for Mechanical maintenance across the machines
  • Participate actively in continuous improvements projects involving the implementation of new processes
  • Support Project Manager/Engineer for efficient installation, modification, or development of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Maintain the availability of mechanical spare parts
  • Prepare basic design and cost estimate for jobs when required.
  • Undertake training and development to improve skills and capabilities and assist training of other staff, including apprentices.
  • Liaise with other trades and sections regarding priorities and work arrangements.
  • Support and drive Continuous Improvement project by using Lean tool methodology (5S, A3 Thinking, TPM, 5 Why’s…)

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum entry qualification – Trade Certificate, Fitter & Turner.
  • Additional qualifications providing either hydraulics, electrical, electronic or instrumentation competence is highly regarded.
  • Ability to problem solve and learn.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and is a self-starter.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced trouble shooting skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Knowledge of SPC or Lean manufacturing an advantage
